Western Serbia: Tara, the Drina House and Drvengrad
Mountains, canyons and a narrow gauge railway that loops in a figure of eight. The best of Western Serbia, as a long day or a relaxed two day tour.
Western Serbia is the country's green heart. The Drina river flows through deep valleys, the forests of Tara National Park hide some of the most beautiful viewpoints in the Balkans, and the village of Mokra Gora is home to two famous attractions.
Drvengrad is the wooden village built by film director Emir Kusturica, and the Šargan Eight is a restored narrow gauge railway that climbs the mountain in a loop shaped like the number eight. Because of the distance, we recommend a very early start or an overnight stay.
